Susannah W. Walsh, CPA, MPA
As
a Cum Laude graduate of
The
University of Texas at Austin, I received a
Master
of Professional Accounting and a Bachelor of Business
Administration.
I am a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the
State of Texas.
Prior to my public accounting experience providing
tax, accounting and financial services to individuals and
small businesses, I worked as a Financial Analyst for a
private equity fund where I was responsible for new
investment analysis, as well as analysis pertaining to
portfolio companies. In addition, I previously served as a
Senior Financial Analyst in corporate finance at Sabre,
Inc., and I began my career at Arthur Andersen LLP where I
left as a Senior Auditor.
The CPA Designation
Don’t undervalue the significance of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. These three letters are only awarded to individuals that have met certain educational requirements and passed a rigorous uniform national examination. In addition, CPA’s must abide by demanding continuing education requirements and are governed by a code of professional ethics that is among the most exacting of any profession.
Certified Public Accountants, like attorneys and enrolled agents are generally unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can practice before. In contrast, practice before the IRS is much more limited for other individuals such as unenrolled tax return preparers or family members.
Please use special care in selecting an individual to prepare your tax return(s). There are many types of individuals providing tax return preparation services with varying degrees of qualifications. Please protect your interests by making sure the person you select is properly licensed and qualified.
